No matter if you’re a Christmas fiend who can’t get enough of carolers or you just want to take a spin around the ice rink, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few of our favorites happening around town this season!

Song & Dance

If you love the sights and sounds of the holidays, there are plenty of ways to enjoy them this winter. Playing now through January 1, the quintessential Christmas classic A Christmas Carol will be at Ford’s Theater with Edward Gero spearheading the cast as Ebenezer Scrooge. Great for all ages!

At 4 PM on Saturday and Sunday December 13 and 14, the Cathedral Choral Society of the National Cathedral will be performing The Joy of Christmas, a caroling spectacular sure to shake the earth with song. Tickets range from $25-75 and are available for online purchase here.

Fashion & Fun

Fans of Project Runway won’t want to miss Tim Gunn’s “visual feast” at the National Archives’ William G. McGowan Theater on Thursday, December 11 at 7 PM for Deck the Halls: Holidays at the White House, a panel discussion taking place in partnership with the White House Historical Association that will go over the history of White House holiday decorations and how they’ve evolved over the years. This year’s official White House Christmas Ornament will be on sale for attendees, so serious history buffs and fashionistas – we’ll see you there!

Residents of Monroe Street Market won’t have to stray far from their front doors to enjoy the Brookland Celebration of Lights trolley tour of Brookland on Sunday, December 14 from 5 – 8 PM. This neighborhood tour will feature the best and brightest holiday decorations in the city, so buckle up and get ready to enjoy some serious holiday decor.

If the cold weather has you down, get your blood pumping by ice skating at Washington Harbour Ice Rink in Georgetown. This gigantic rink is open every day from now through March, so get into the holiday spirit by strapping on some skates and whizzing around! Tickets are $10 for adults, but be sure to check the upcoming schedule for deals and special events.

If you haven’t quite crossed everything off your “to buy” list, don’t fear. The 10th Annual Downtown Holiday Market is running through December 23 from 12 – 8 PM every day on the F Street sidewalk between 7th and 9th Streets, NW (in front of the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery). With over 60 vendors taking part of this huge shopping extravaganza, you’ll be able to finish your holiday shopping and stay local as well.
