Third Thursdays: April 16th

The Artists of Monroe Street Market Art Walk are opening their studios to give you the chance to procure your own art collection and provide an inside look at their latest projects from 6:00-8:00pm. Here is a preview of what you will be able to see and do during April’s Third Thursday event:

Studio 20: Watch local art come to life as artist, Michael Pierce, continues to work on his ‘in process’ 15 foot landscape painting.

Stitch and Rivet– Your mini artists can let their creativity run wild when they visit the kids art table at Katie’s studio.

Studio 12: Gain a hands on sculpture experience when you visit Maroulla’s clay studio. Tools and clay will be provided. The artist’s own sculptures will be on display as your inspiration.

Only Make Believe: Create costumes which will be donated for performances (no sewing required!) Drop off items from your spring cleaning such as used CDs, ribbons, fabric remnants etc…

ARTillery: View the upcoming show, TYGER, based upon rituals, the imperfection of memory, disappearance and loss. Woodworking 103 Class takes place on Saturday 4/18 from 2-5pm; returning instructor Roberto Gato Echanique will teach students how to make a disappearing/memory box.

Charles Bergen Studios: See the plans selected for the Perimeter Fence Project for River Terrace Special Education Center.

Cheryl Edwards Studio: Visit the new exhibit “Prism” featuring artwork from Cheryl Edwards, Lisa Rosenstein, Lisa Farrell and Lynn Slyvester.

Carmen Quander Studio: Stop by on Thursday to have some light snacks and socialize with artist, Carmen Quander. On Saturday, from 11:00 am to 1:00pm, bring your young artists to take part in her teen paint class.

AK Arts: This Husband and wife art duo have just returned from a two and a half month African journey. Kate used her fresh new eyes as inspiration for her leather collection and brought back a limited hand-picked selection of Fair Trade baskets from Swaziland. Avner captured striking images: landscapes, animals in the wild, the night sky, and glimpses into other cultures.

ArtJamz: Visit to reserve your unique freestyle painting session. This studio location will be open Thursday and Friday 6-10pm, Saturday Noon-10pm and Sunday Noon-8pm.

Black Lab: See the latest additions to the Celestial Bodies photo-digital series and the newest Tree Hugger photo scarves: Cherry Tree; Sycamore; and Baroque Oak.

Studio 15: Stop by and see the beginning of Marcelle’s “American Summer Memories Pillow Project”.
