A Holiday Tradition Near Monroe Street Market: ZooLights at the National Zoo!
The Smithsonian’s National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute presents its seasonal event Zoolights. Thousands of visitors tread through this annual holiday tradition which includes winter treats, live music performances (full schedule on website), and holiday shopping. The twinkling winter lights and displays transform the space into a winter wonderland where two laser light shows are set to music. Warm up by the cozy fire and roast marshmallows as you bask within the atmosphere of the holiday season. Become a part of the Zoolights experience by posing with family or friends next to holiday displays and captioning with a “#DCZoolights” on social media.
This free-admission event runs through Jan. 1, 2020. Check the website for deals on parking and access to free guest shuttles. When preparing to visit this holiday season, know that parking is limited and public transportation is highly encouraged. Plan for the weather, as some attractions may not be available when temperatures hit 35 degrees or below. More featured events at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo can be found on the website.
